Corvette SS Practice Car at Sebring 1957

The “P” is for practice. This is the car that Piero Taruffi, Zora Arkus-Duntov, John Fitch, Stirling Moss, and Juan Fangio took turns driving around Sebring during practice days for the 1957 12-Hours of Sebring. Note the rather flimsy looking roll bar. The car looks to me like a home built someone threw together in their garage.

The Corvette lineup prior to the start of the 1957 12-Hours of Sebring. #1 is the Corvette SS, #2 is a Corvette SR-2, next are two C-1’s. The SR-2 finished 16th and the C-1’s finished 12th and 15th. Lindsey Hopkins name was on the entry of three of the cars.
